Help provide nourishing food for those who need it most in Miami, thanks to Buchanan and Buddy System MIA
The economic challenges caused by the pandemic have increased across the country, leaving many with inadequate access to food. According to Feeding South Florida, over 1.4 million people in southernmost region of Florida are struggling to put food on the table as a result of the pandemic. To help address food insecurities in these communities, Buchanan’s Whisky is proud to continue their collaboration with Buddy System MIA, the nonprofit behind Miami’s Community Fridges, to help them reach their target of building and filling 10 community fridges across the city by March 2021. This week they will launch three new refrigerators in Hialeah and Wynwood and will supply those in need with food free of charge.
In order to add color and vibrancy to these communities, Buchanan commissioned three artists from Miami, Atomik, Haiiileen, and Alex Yanes to leave their creative marks on their communal fridges. Buchanan’s and Buddy system also organized a revealing ceremony for the refrigerator designed by Atomik together with Mana Public Arts. The community is encouraged to join in to #sharesomethinggreat and help make sandwiches to stock the fridge.
