Actress Zulay Henao invites you to take your wellness to the next level

After a year of trauma and isolation, it’s so clear more women are prioritizing self-care. Living through COVID-19 along with personal losses, has left us feeling anxious and stressed out. As we continue to navigate unprecedented times, this Colombian actress wants to help you focus on the present moment and identify the positive elements in your life. Zulay Henao, along with Julie Skon (as seen together in photo by Michael Haber), started Modern Muze, a platform dedicated to the evolution of diverse women through the lens of our four brand pillars, Soul, Science, Sex & Society. We recently caught up with the actress about how she is helping women practice self-care today and her upcoming virtual event that is open to the public.

Henao, who has done a lot of redefining and self-reflection in recent years, started Modern Muze with Skon after their twenty-year friendship. “It came about organically over the course of a two-decade friendship with my co-founder Julie Skon. Through honest discourse, we spoke about how to really bring femininity into wonderful focus by moving boldly through our self-growth and elevation,” Henao told LatinaWatch.

She added, “Our mission is to promote the wellness of mind and body through consciousness while embracing the magic of women. The goal is to powerfully explore and expand through creative, disruptive content so that diverse women from all walks of life can walk into their power and become their own MUZE.”

On March 28, Modern Muze will be hosting a virtual event called Soul Revival. The highly-anticipated event, which runs from 1 through 3PM PST, will feature acclaimed author Dr. Erin Haskell, actress/singer Leli Hernandez, entrepreneur and TV-personality Jessica Hall, singer/songwriter Grizel ‘Chachi’ del Valle, and many others.

“Soul Revival will be comprised of three different and exciting components! The main event will feature acclaimed author Dr. Erin Haskell, who will lead us through a conversation on how to heal from this past year and all the trauma it brought and on how to find your power, passion, and purpose. We are also hosting a wellness yoga session along with a “boss-ladies” conversation on how we leveled up this past year featuring some pretty amazing speakers,” Henao shared. The actress hopes that this event will “create a chain reaction of healing & self-discovery through amazing story telling, vulnerability and sheer boldness.”

Besides the exciting event, Zulay has a lot to celebrate this year. The Colombian actress is expecting her first child with actor Kevin Connolly. The couple confirmed the pregnancy news when the mom-to-be shared an adorable photo of herself and the Entourage star cradling her growing belly during the holidays. The photo was captioned, “Merry Christmas y Feliz Navidad from our family to yours!”

Zulay, who is now in her trimester, shared how she is practicing self-care during her pregnancy. “This has truly proven to be the best time of my life. My struggle through all of this has been to surrender. Prior to this, I had a miscarriage that left me full of fear and anxiety,” the star said, adding, “I have been practicing to simply staying in the present, breathing and allowing myself to feel what I am feeling with grace but also surrendering to the process and trusting in the magic of my life.

The Modern Muze and the Soul Revival event is happening on March 28 from 1 through 3 PM PST. You can sign up for the virtual event on their website free of cost with an optional $25 donation to mental health charities such as NAMI, Urban Los Angeles, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
