Discover the perfect cocktail for national cocktail day

Every year on March 24, we commemorate the delicious alcoholic beverages we’ve grown to love for National Cocktail Day. This year we’re joining the celebration and raising our glass in honor of the bartending craft. There is a cocktail out there for everyone to love, whether it’s a classic or a brand-new concoction.

If you’re looking for something new, try a cocktail with Buchanan’s Pineapple. The new flavor of Buchanan’s Scotch Whisky marries the sweet pineapple flavor with the silky smoothness of the whisky. Tequila Don Julio is also pleased to introduce Tequila Don Julio Rosado, the newest addition to the brand’s luxury collection. It is a great spirit to savor on the rocks or with a dash of sparkling water and a lemon garnish.

Classic cocktails are also available. The margarita and the martini are two examples of drinks that have been enjoyed for years and are still popular today. There are countless variations on these traditional drinks thanks to the many different spirits, bitters, and garnishes.

Whatever your taste, National Cocktail Day is the perfect opportunity to experiment with the art of mixology. Read on to discover some classic and new cocktails to recreate at home.

Tequila Don Julio Rosado Spritz


Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz Tequila Don Julio Rosado
  • Splash of Sparkling Water
  • Lemon Wedge

Garnish:

  • Lemon wedge

Preparation:

  1. Add 1.5 oz. of Tequila Don Julio Rosado to an ice-filled coupe glass.
  2. Top with a splash of sparkling water.

Astral Old Fashioned

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Astral Tequila Añejo
  • 1 Barspoon of Agave Nectar
  • 2 Dashes of Chocolate Bitters

Garnish:

  • Grated Chocolate and Orange Twist

Preparation:

  1. Add all ingredients into an ice-filled mixing glass.
  2. Stir for 10 to 12 seconds.
  3. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass and garnish with grated chocolate and an orange twist.

Cantarito Gran Centenario® Reposado

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Gran Centenario® Reposado Tequila
  • 2.5 parts Jarritos Grapefruit Soda
  • 3/4 part Fresh Orange Juice
  • 3/4 part Fresh Grapefruit Juice
  • 1/4 part Fresh Lime Juice
  • Pinch of Grain Salt

Garnish:

  • Tajín rim
  • Lime
  • Orange
  • Grapefruit

Preparation:

  1. Rim cantarito with Tajín and fill with ice.
  2. Add tequila, orange juice, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and salt.
  3. Top with Jarritos and garnish with lime wedge and citrus fruit slices as desired.

Mezcal Espresso Martini

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Código 1530 Mezcal Artesanal
  • 1 oz Coffee Liqueur
  • 1 oz Explorer Cold Brew
  • 0.25 oz Simple Syrup

Preparation:

  1. Add everything to a shaker and shake vigorously.
  2. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with coffee beans.

Zacapa Old Fashioned

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Zacapa No. 23 Rum
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Sugar Cube
  • Splash of Water

Garnish:

  • Orange Twist

Glass:

  • Rocks

Preparation:

  1. Combine bitters, sugar cube, and a splash of water into a rocks glass and stir to combine.
  2. Add Zacapa No. 23 and a large ice cube to a glass and stir.
  3. Garnish with an orange twist.

1800 The Heat

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz. 1800 Coconut
  • 1 ½ oz. pineapple juice
  • ¾ oz. lime juice
  • Jalapeño, sliced (for garnish)

Preparation:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
  2. Strain into a rocks glass and garnish with sliced jalapeño.

St. George Spiced Pear Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz reposado tequila
  • 1 oz St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1/4 oz Simple Syrup

Preparation:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a tin with ice, then shake and strain over fresh ice into a glass half-rimmed with salted cinnamon sugar.
  2. Garnish with lime and/or a pear slice.

Old Parr’s Tropical Breeze

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Old Parr Aged 12 Years
  • .75 oz of Mango Liqueur
  • .75 oz of Ginger Liqueur
  • .5 oz Lime Juice

Garnish:

  • Spicy Mango (Candied Mango rolled in chili salt)

Glassware:

  • Rocks Glass

Preparation:

  1. In a shaker add 1.5 oz Old Parr Aged 12 Years and remaining ingredients then top with ice.
  2. Shake and strain into an ice filled glass.
  3. Garnish with a spicy mango using a cocktail pick and enjoy!

Empress Lavender Lemonade

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Empress 1908 Gin
  • 1 oz Lavender Honey Syrup
  • 2 oz Lemonade Lavender Sprig

Preparation:

  1. Fill a stemless wine glass with crushed ice.
  2. Shake lemonade and syrup on ice and strain into the glass.
  3. Layer Empress 1908 Gin on top and add more crushed ice.
  4. Garnish with a lavender sprig.

Green with Envy

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Flecha Azul Blanco Tequila
  • 2 oz Fresh Green Juice*
    • *To prepare green juice, combine the below ingredients into a juicer
      • 1 Apple
      • Bunch of Kale
      • ½ cup of fresh Pineapple
      • Juice of 1 Lemon
      • 5 coins of fresh Ginger

Preparation:

  1. Combine all ingredients into a shaker.
  2. Add ice and shake vigorously.
  3. Strain into a highball glass and add fresh crushed ice.
