Old Navy partners up with Latinx artists for special collection in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month
Today marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. From September 15 to October 15 we recognize and celebrate the contributions of the Latinx community. To kick start the celebration, Old Navy is collaborating with three Latinx artists to design shirts that honor each artist’s unique heritage. The partnership, which is part of the brand’s Project WE, is allowing Old Navy to recognize Latinx as various cultures, heritages, and experience. To help with this one-of-a-kind collection, the clothing brand enlisted the help from Manuela Guillén, Favianna Rodriquez and Ruby Marquez.

The design of Favianna honors the diverse experiences of Latinx, which combined make a “unique, complex and beautiful culture.” Manuela was inspired by the “Latinx dream, the love for the culture, and the resilience of our people.” Chincanx artist Ruby used traditional vase and flowers in their design to “pay respect to my indigenous roots. I’m proud of my people.”
Lucky for you, you may now buy limited-edition shirts on Old Navy’s website. The shirts are available in multiple sizes for adults, kids, and toddlers, so everyone can join in on the celebration. Old Navy is also donating $1million to Youth Arts initiatives in Boys & Girls Clubs around the country. Studies demonstrate that art involvement is linked to good results ranging from higher self-esteem to attendance at the college level, however 50% of primary schools with the lowest income lack an art classroom. With this gift, Old Navy is aimed at helping reduce the gap by giving fair access to the arts.
