Latin artist Joshua Vides teams up with Xbox for a limited edition console to support visual talent
If you haven’t heard of Joshua Vides, chances are you’ve seen his immersive illustrations on brands such as Converse and Nike. Last year, the Guatemalan-American artist joined forces with the Italian fashion house, Fendi, for its Pre-Fall 2020 collection. The collection boasted several clothing and accessories decked out in Vides marker-style designs. Now, the Latino is sharing his creative style with a few lucky gamers. Vides’ design studio Reality to Idea (RTI) has teamed up with Xbox and Livestream shopping platform NTWRK to create hand-painted Xbox crates.
These limited-edition crates, which are decked out in the iconic black marker look Vides is known for, include an Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, a custom Xbox wireless controller, Xbox wireless headset, and a signature cone. On Wednesday, April 28th, 10 crates will be released exclusively on NTWRK, each selling at a retail price of $2000. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the U.S. Latinx Art Forum (USLAF), a national non-profit organization that campaigns for greater visibility of Latinx visual artists. In anticipation of its release, Xbox teamed up with another Latino to give fans a sneak peek of the crates. Grammy-nominated artist FEID took to social media to share an exclusive clip of himself doing a live unboxing.
With only 10 consoles available, this limited edition crate won’t last long. Make sure to add a reminder to your phone and head over to NTWRK this Wednesday, April 28th to get your very own piece of gaming art.
