Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez get help from top sportsmen for fresh bid for New York Mets

Back in April, the couple reportedly joined forces with JPMorgan Chase’s managing director Eric Menell, the bank’s co-head of North American media investment banking, to help raise the funds to make an offer to the Wilpon family. In 2002, the family became the sole proprietors of the team when they bought the remaining 50% of the Mets from Doubleday for $391 million. Unfortunately, there were reports of failed negotiations with prospective backers but now JLo and A-Rod are back at it again.
According to TMZ, the stars have current and retired top sportsmen such as Travis Kelce, Brian Urlacher, DeMarco Murray and Joe Thomas.
The group also features two NBA star, Bradley Beal, of the Washington Wizards, and Mason Plumlee from the Denver Nuggets. The group has already made a $1.7 billion bid for the Mets, which is significantly larger than JLO and A-Rod initials bid of $1.5 billion.

However, hedge fund Billionaire Steve Cohen is currently the front runner. Cohen has reportedly offered $2 billion to purchase the Mets from the Wilpon family. Luckily, there is still hope for J-Rod. According to ESPN, the owner would rather sell to the singer and the former Yankee player if they can come closer to Cohen’s bid.
