Gisele Bündchen to plant 40,000 trees to celebrate her 40th birthday
Gisele Bündchen is giving back to Mother Earth on her 40th birthday. The Brazilian model, who has used her platform to helping out the planet thanks to her commitment to sustainability, announced that she will be planting 40,000 trees in the Amazon rainforest in honor of her milestone birthday.
“I feel like a whole new chapter of my life is starting, and I wanted to celebrate it in a meaningful way, so I decided to plant 40,000 trees. I have been planting trees for different projects for years, as I feel that this is the best way I know to give back to Mother Earth,” Gisele wrote on Instagram, alongside some photos of her and her family planting trees.

She added, “This year, to celebrate my birthday, my family and I had planned to plant trees in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil but, as we all know, that is not possible right now. Then I had another thought! What if I could come up with a way for others to help me plant trees there?”
The Brazilian beauty set up a website so family and fans can also be a part of this amazing initiative for a better tomorrow. Gisele currently tops the donor list with 40,000 trees, alongside her husband Tom Brady, who also donated the same amount.
In a throwback post, Gisele posted a photo of herself while visiting an Indigenous tribe in the Amazon rainforest back in 2004. The model explained that the non-profit organization Instituto Socioambiental (ISA) she was a part of back in 2006 has created a prosperous “seed bank” for her 40,000 trees.

“It has made me so happy to know that the little seeds we planted so many years ago have developed into so much life. Today we are going to use this same seed bank to plant 40,000 trees for my birthday-and continue to regenerate nature,” she wrote.
Currently, Gisele has been able to raise enough money to plant 145,349 tree. For those interested in helping out, check out the model’s donation website here.
