Now, the new mom is making headlines for being the the first woman to serve as the featured musical guest at the AVN Awards, also known as the “Oscars of porn.” “I’m so excited that the AVN Awards chose me to be their first female performer ever! Before Cardi B dominated the charts, the Bronx-native began stripping to make enough money to escape her abusive relationship. While she is constantly criticized for her past, the rapper has been open and unapologetically of her humble beginnings. “People say, ‘Why do you always got to say that you used to be a stripper? We get it,’” Cardi told Cosmopolitan, adding, “Because y’all don’t respect me because of it, and y’all going to respect these strippers from now on … Just because somebody was a stripper don’t mean they don’t have no brain.”
Cardi B is set to perform at the 2019 AVN Awards, which are scheduled to take place on January 26 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
