Camila Cabello Honors Selena in Tribute at Houston Rodeo
La cubana Camila Cabello followed in the footsteps of her fellow artists Kacey Musgraves, Prince Royce, and Cardi B by honoring Selena Quintanilla in her own way at the 2019 Houston Rodeo. Even if you may not be old enough to remember, la leyenda’s “Dreaming of You” marked her crossover to English music and became an instant anthem.
With an audience of over 55,000, the former Fifth Harmony member remembered la Reina by singing the sweet song as fans swayed along. With Selena’s death anniversary and birthday both coming up, we’re definitely dreaming of her and what could have been.
It’s well-known that the late 23-year-old singer was working on the hit single that showed off her diversity and soulful voice before her tragic passing. The world wouldn’t hear it or her first English-language album with the same title until August 1995 — five months after the Queen of Tejano’s death.
The pop ballad topped the charts after its release and many know it as the song at the end of Selena’s 1997 biopic. La cantante was of course, missed in the music video:
