Karol G is Repping Latinas as One of Urban Decay’s Newest Global Citizens
From hit singles such as “Pineapple” and “Mi Cama,” Karol G has been breaking barriers with her Spanish-language music. Now, the reggeatonera is also leaving her mark in the beauty scene after being named one of Urban Decay’s Global Citizens.
Karol G, born Carolina Giraldo Navarro, alongside Lizzo, Ezra Miller, Joey King, and CL were the trailblazers chosen for Urban Decay’s newest campaign, Pretty Different. The brand’s anthem celebrates individuals like Karol, who unapologetically embraces their own uniqueness, all while breaking then beauty norms or standards set by society.
“Our UD Citizens are dynamic, global voices that stand up for what they believe in,” says Wende Zomnir, Urban Decay’s Founding Partner in a statement. “They are the true definition of ‘Pretty Different’ and embody the spirit of UD. Because being different doesn’t only mean being ‘weird’ or going against the status quo—it means you being you.”
Of course, Karol G is no stranger to breaking the norm. While reggaeton has been a male-dominated industry for several years, the colombiana has successfully disrupted the urban scene, proving that women can also be at the forefront of the genre.
