This Latina is Helping Celebrities and Influencers Regain Trust In Media
When you think of Oprah Winfrey what words come to mind? Inspirational? Wisdom? Possibly trust? Since the start of her career, Winfrey has inspired many by helping them find meaning and purpose in their lives. Similar to the television host, Ebby Antigua embodies what it means to make a lasting impact for a better world.
As a child, the Latina competed in pageants and received recognition for her work in magazine design. Throughout her career as Latina Magazine’s Creative Director, Antigua’s ability to foster relationships earned her the love and trust of A-listers and publicists. Fast forward to today, Antigua has created her own magazine with the sole purpose of giving a voice to others.
For the mother-of-two, Ebby Magazine is more than just a publication to get your seasonal celebrity fix, it’s a platform that celebrates inclusion and inspires others with true stories of success. “At Ebby Magazine, we preach the idea of ‘luxury for the soul.’ For me, luxury is more than just a material object. It’s about finding abundance in inspirational content that makes people feel better about themselves,” Antigua said.
Antigua, who recently launched her first digital issue with OITNB star, Jackie Cruz on the cover, says luxury can be experienced through something as simple as a soulful connection. “In my editor’s note for the Winter Issue, I wrote about the idea of being present in the moment. Oftentimes we get caught up on small things and end up missing the big picture,” she said, adding, “When I find myself feeling disconnected or overthinking stuff, I ask myself, ‘Is this going to matter tomorrow, a day from now or even a year from today?’ If the answer is no, then I make an effort of being present and not worry about the million other things on my mind.”
Not only does Antigua live in the present moment, she is also helping others learn how to be engaged in the now as well. “The reality is that the entertainment industry is a strong environment. You’re often surrounded by people who are trying to survive but somehow lose themselves and end up carrying negative energy. It’s really sad. At Ebby Magazine, we open the doors to anyone who wants to talk without judgement,” the New York-native said. “I help give them a voice and a platform where they can feel comfortable to speak about their fears, success, motives, and more.”
As a spiritual person, Antigua credits prayer for helping her find balance even when the world around her feels unstable. “I rely a lot on prayer. Every morning I give gratitude and acknowledge simple things like breathing and dreaming,” founder of Ebby Magazine told Latina Watch, adding, “It’s easy to get anxiety and stress over something new that you’re putting your energy towards, however, it’s all about taking things one day at a time and staying in the present moment.”
