Eva Mendes Says Falling in Love With Ryan Gosling Changed Her Mind About Kids

When it comes to talking about her boo Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes keeps her boca cerrada. That is until recently when the Ghost Rider actress opened up about how much the Notebook alum truly impacted her life. In a recent interview with Women’s Health the Latina, who shares two daughters with Gosling, revealed having kids was “the furthest thing from [her] mind.”

While Mendes never pictured herself becoming a mamá, that quickly changed after falling head over heels for her The Plane Beyond the Pines costar. “Ryan Gosling happened,” the cubana said, adding, “I mean, falling in love with him. Then it made sense for me to have … not kids, but his kids. It was very specific to him.”

In true Latino fashion, Mendes admits her family has played an important role in helping raise her two bundles of joy — Esmeralda, 4, and Amanda, 2

“We have an amazing support group: Ryan’s mom, my mom, Ryan’s and my sisters. It’s a village that helped us. My heart goes out to women who do this alone. I basically come from a single-parent household; although I love my dad, my mom mostly raised four of us on her own,” the 45-year-old told the news outlet.

While the lovebirds have been together for seven years, they’ve kept their relationship private and out of the spotlight. However, in 2017 after winning a Golden Globe for best actor in a musical or comedy for his role in La La Land, Gosling thanked his wife for her constant support.

“I just would like to try and thank one person properly, and say that while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer,” the father-of-two said on stage. “If she hadn’t taken all that on so that I could have this experience, would surely be someone else up here other than me to today. Sweetheart, thank you.”
