Kayla Ortiz’s TikTok Mirror Method Is Helping Us Shift From Obsessing to Manifesting

If you’ve ever found yourself obsessing over a job, a guy, an opportunity—basically replaying the same thought on loop—Kayla Ortiz has a TikTok technique that’s going viral for a reason. The Los Angeles–based singer, harpist, and wellness practitioner is teaching Latinas how to flip their mindset from “Why don’t I have this?” to “Why wouldn’t this choose me?”

Her method is simple and surprisingly powerful: Stand in front of a mirror, look yourself directly in the eyes, and list 20 reasons why whatever you’re obsessing over should be obsessed with YOU.

Twenty reasons.
Even if you have to make them up.
Even if you don’t fully believe them yet.

Kayla’s point is that your beliefs about yourself eventually become your reality. This is where she references Neville Goddard, the philosopher behind the Law of Assumption—the idea that whatever you consistently assume to be true will eventually manifest. His famous line, “An assumption, even if false, if persisted in, will harden into fact,” fits perfectly with Kayla’s approach.

And honestly, this isn’t new to our community. Latino culture has always believed in the power of words and intention. From “decláralo” to lighting candles for clarity, we’ve been practicing our own version of the Law of Assumption for generations.

Kayla is simply giving it a modern twist: confidence as a ritual, self-worth as a practice, and manifestation as something you actively step into—not obsess over.

Her mirror exercise is resonating because it reminds Latinas to shift the focus back onto themselves. Instead of spiraling about why something isn’t choosing us, Kayla wants us to remember why we’re worth choosing in the first place.

It’s quick, it’s grounding, and it hits the exact spot where confidence and cultura meet.
