7 fruits and veggies that’ll help you have better sex

Todos sabemos that we need to eat more fruits and veggies on the daily. The Center for Disease Control states that we need to eat around one and a half-to-two cups of fruits and about two-to-three cups of vegetables every day. Regardless of what science tells us, sometimes it’s a hassle to get in all the recommended things the body needs (let’s be honest, french fries taste so much better). But, one of the positives about eating a healthier and more varied diet is that it helps the body with many of its functions — namely sex. There are plenty of benefits one can get from different fruits and veggies, but the below might just be the crème de la crème when it comes to having better sex.

Apples

An apple a day might just do more than keep the doctor away thanks to a little compound known a quercetin. What is quercetin, you ask? According to Healthline, it’s an antioxidant that has the power and ability to improve your overall health and keep you blood pressure in check. The report states that high blood pressure can lead to lower libidos (aka interest in doing “the deed”). Quercetin can also help with maintaining a healthy circulation, Healthline cites. So, ya sabes — eat more apples, y’all.

Spinach

Who knew Popeye was onto something when he was swallowing all that spinach. Eat This, Not That reports that these leafy greens are great when it comes to overall stamina because of a little thing called arginine. When arginine is introduced to the system, it can help with recovery time and erections. Business Insider also reports that spinach carries healthy doses of magnesium, something that can lower overall inflammation in the body and promote better circulation. Psychotherapist and sex expert Tammy Nelson, Ph.D, tells Business Insider that women will find the road to the Big O much faster, too.

Bananas

The list wouldn’t be complete without the long-standing sex symbol that is the banana. According to Business Insider, the potassium found in bananas is said to counteract the effects of overall inflammation, something that happens when you consume too much salt. Why is lowering inflammation a good thing? Well, it hinders blood flow. Lower blood flow is said to lead to a lower amount of O’s. Eat This, Not That adds that the potassium in bananas also helps the body against cramps (because nothing dampens the mood more than a calve muscle cramp).

Garlic

While it is not advisable to chomp on raw garlic moments before going on a date, consuming some garlic overall can go a long way to promoting overall sex health. According to CBS, the allicin compound found in garlic is said to help with blood flow to the body’s nether regions. Mind you, this isn’t some overnight success story. In order to reap these benefits so that you can sow your seeds, you’d have to take garlic capsules (or consume garlic daily) for about a month, CBS cites.

Watermelon

Who knew watermelon was sexy? Turns out, watermelon is super bountiful (and fertile) in an amino acid called L-citrulline, Eat This, Not That explains. So what happens when L-citrulline hits the body? It becomes L-arginine, a compound that helps with blood flow and acts as nature’s little blue pill. Yes, folks, eat more watermelons, and you’ll get a rousing standing salute every time.

Beets

It’s time to beet it. Beets, or beetroots to some, are very rich in a bunch of good stuff that your body needs like antioxidants and vitamins (via Healthline). Another thing they are bountiful and fertile in? Dietary nitrates — these little guys help with improved blood flow. And when you think about it, healthy blood flow can benefit mucha gente. According to Healthline, beets and beetroot juice could help improve your overall stamina, as well (#yes).

As if everyone didn’t already have a love affair with avocados, now research is showing that it can also help you getting jiggy with your S.O. According to a Healthline report, avocados are super rich in vitamin E, a nutrient that promotes testicular health (avocado is the Aztec word for testicle, so no surprise there). The vitamin E in avocados promotes healthy blood vessels and is even said to help reduce sperm DNA damage. Avocados also have potassium in them as well, something that can help the body’s overall libido and energy levels, Healthline cites.
