I Tried A Jean Line Designed For Pear Figures And Here’s Why I’m Jumping for Joy

Pear-shaped ladies, the struggle is over! Finding a pair of jeans that flatters your body type can be pretty stressful. While everyone’s denim concerns are different, us pear-shaped gals have the hardest time successfully locating a silhouette that fits our waist and hips. Thanks to my Latin curves, I often find myself buried under piles of jeans in the fitting room. Not to mention the horrific gap that sticks out at the waistline every time I wear my baby blues. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but jean shopping is not easy—nor will they ever be unless you do some research.

So, I went on a quest to find a pair that actually molded to my body type. Of course, I took my research to the Internet—as most people do now-a-days. While scrolling for what felt like hours on Google, I stumbled across a blog that was reviewing a new denim line called ConVi Jeans, which was described as a “jean for all body shapes.” Unless this was some kind of Sisterhood and the Traveling Pants scenario, I knew one size didn’t fit all. For starters, we all have different body types that require particular denim needs. However, what did catch my attention was when blogger Sam mentioned that designer, Cenia Paredes, created her line out of frustration from the lack of jeans that flattered her body type.

From the site: “The inspiration to design a convertible, yet flattering jean came from own personal passion via my struggles to find a truly flattering jean for my body type. Me, along with 30% of women tend to have a significantly smaller waist than their hips, yet there wasn’t a jean on the market that could truly fit and mold to our bodies without the need for alterations. ConVi Jean’s design not only works for women with smaller waists, as I didn’t want to exclude the jean for women who need a standard fit. So when the zippers are down, women with a standard waist or those who need a looser fit at the waist can also wear them, but ConVi Jean can equally act as a waist cincher when zipped up for added shape.”

At this point I needed to try these jeans myself to see how they fit IRL. I went on the company’s website and order two pairs of their patent-pending bottoms. Fast-forward a week later, these bad boys finally arrived at my apartment. The first thing I noticed was the amazing stretch of the jeans. With letter sizes XS-XL fitting sizes 0 – 18, its no surprise these jeans had an amazing built-in stretch. Next, I noticed the two zippers that ran perpendicular to the waistline. These strategically place fasteners were designed to remove the gaps that usually formed on the back of standard jeans for us curvier girls.

Now, for the big question on everyone’s mind, “did these bad boys measure up to the expectations?” Shockingly, they did! These aren’t your average jeans. No siree! In terms of comfort, the soft denim fabric contoured and hugged every curve on my body making it feel like a second skin. The zipper darts at the back of the pants made the waistline significantly smaller and naturally followed the narrowing of my waist. While these perfect baby blues, do have functional back pockets, the front ones are not, but it definitely wasn’t a deal-breaker. According to the site, the faux pockets are meant to keep the hip area as smooth as possible. Who knew?!

The one drawback is that at the moment the jeans only come in two washes—Medium Wash and Indigo Wash. ConVi Jeans retail for $99, which can be a bit pricey for some, but you can’t put a price tag on the perfect jeans.
