Best Latino Fashion Collaborations of 2018
What happens when your favorite Latin artist or celeb teams up with a reputable fashion brand? Pure freakin’ magic! In 2018, we saw Latinos taking over the fashion scene. From collections that help you look bougee on a budget to other that encourage fitness, these are the five best latin fashion collaborations of the year.
1. J Balvin X GUESSS
2018 was a huge year for J Balvin. Not only did the Colombian reggaetonero get to perform on stage with Beyonce at Coachella (We were there and it was magical!!!), the “Mi Gente” singer also hit the road internationally for his highly-anticipated Vibras Tour. In celebration of his tour, the Latin Grammy Award Winner collaborated with GUESS for a 7-piece capsule of concert merchandise that launched on September 19th. The pieces, which included vibrant graphic tees and tie-dye hoodie, were sold during the tour and at select GUESS stores near the concert locations.
“My partnership with GUESS, a brand that has strong roots in the Latin community, not only aligns with my personal brand, but with my community and fanbase as well,” says J Balvin. “I am so excited to launch an exclusive collection of concert merch on tour and officially bring the vibe of our music to fashion.”
Of course, we’ll be seeing more amazing things happening with the Colombian-born superstar and the American retailer in the near future. Just last month, GUESS announced that J Balvin will be the face of their Spring 2019 campaign. While the collection has no release date, we’ll keep you posted on any updates for the collab.
2. Selena Gomez X COACH
Selena Gomez was not playing any games this year. After the massive success of her first collection with COACH, the former Disney Channel Star decided to team up with the retailer for a second collaboration – this time with an exclusive ready-to-wear line. From leather accessories with bunny motifs to a lace silk dress, Gomez’s collection was a must-have for Selenators.
“I’m so proud of the collection,” the Mexican-American singer said, adding, “What I love most about working with the Coach team is that they just know how I dress. Everything felt authentic from the beginning.”
The entire Selena Gomez X COACH is currently 50% off. Now, you can snag your favorite pieces or gift some to friends and family during the holidays without breaking the bank.
3. Cardi B X Fashion Nova
Cardi B might be a fan of bloody shoes, but she enjoys rocking ‘cheap‘ clothes that is accessible for everyone. That’s why the 26-year-old collaborated with Fashion Nova to created an 80 pieces, ranging from coats to head-turning dresses. Within hours of the debut, the entire Cardi B X Fashion Nova collection sold out. Thankfully, online fast-fashion has restocked the pieces just in time for the holidays.
“Every little detail to me matters,” Cardi B told Business of Fashion. “I want to make these women look so happy — so radiant, sexy, so corporate and poppin’. I want them to look like they’re wearing Gucci and Prada, but they’re not, they’re wearing my line.”
4. Demi Lovato X Fabletics
In 2017, Demi Lovato teamed up with Fabletics, the activewear brand co-founded by Kate Hudson. Following the success of the first collection, the singer released new silhouettes and colors in 2018, to help fans achieve their New Year’s resolution.
“I think that this collection reflects my personal style more than ever. It was also very important to me to incorporate all of the feedback I’ve received from my supportive fans,” Lovato said in a press release. “I made sure to include different elements and details into the collection that were not only important to me but to them as well.”
5. Adriana Lima X PUMA
While we’re sad to see Adriana Lima hanging up her wings, the Brazilian supermodel is going no where. Joining the likes of Selena Gomez and Cara Delevingne , the former Victoria’s Secret angel is Puma’s newest female brand ambassador. The collaboration with the German-fitness brands is not surprising as the model enjoys working out to stay healthy and in killer shape.
“Supporting, encouraging and empowering women is important to me; this is one of the reasons I wanted to partner with PUMA. They’ve worked so hard to encourage women to be themselves and to show them that by working hard, you can accomplish anything. People have seen me on runways and magazine covers – with this new partnership with PUMA, I want to share my personal training journey and what it takes for me to achieve a healthy balanced life.”
