Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Responds to Car Ride Criticism with Hilarious Tweet
The one and única Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez isn’t afraid to set the record straight — this time about her car ride after a St. Patrick’s Day parade. On Sunday, March 3, The New York Post reported that AOC was spotted riding off in a white Chrysler Town & Country after participating in the 20th annual “St. Pat’s All” parade in Queens. This may seem like trivial information, but being the brains behind the Green New Deal has put AOC front and center to criticism by The Post on how she is contributing to climate change while simultaneously trying to combat it.
The 29-year-old U.S. Representative didn’t miss a beat and fired back at The Post, explaining that she actually hadn’t hired a chauffeur to whisk her away after the public appearance.
“I will have you know my tía was very upset that the ny post insulted her minivan,” the Bronx-native tweeted. “If you saw how many goldfish snacks were in this thing they’d say I was killing the ocean too.”
Of course, The Post responded right back defending their accusation by stating that the minivan had Taxi and Limousine Commission plates, but couldn’t confirm if AOC’s tía was a livery driver. We can all agree that although The Post insists on making a case against her carbon footprint, it’s been a bit of a reach as of late. The young Democrat is expected not to leave any trace of her existence since helping announce the Green New Deal resolution in early February.
We hope AOC’s tía can forget any insults thrown at her “gas-guzzling” minivan and feels confident enough to continue helping her niece get around the city. The Post might make it seem like taking the MTA is the right way to travel around, but any neoyorquina can agree that this public transportation is unreliable, especially on the weekends.
