Cardi B Gets Political & We’re So Here For It

In the midst of the longest government shutdown in history, many of us have been trying our best to find something to uplift us. Whether it’s watching your favorite series on Netflix or jamming out to Cardi B’s latest hit “Twerk,” there’s always something to help distract us from reality momentarily.

On November 9th, The Bodak Yellow star went on a quest to find the best Twerkers in the world alongside City Girls and what resulted was well… the craziest video we’ve seen in a WHILE. Seriously, from girls on yachts to animal print being painted on bodies, there’s just no words. Just take a look for yourself!

But don’t get it twisted, this Bronx girl never forgets her roots. On the same day that she dropped the “Twerk” music video, Cardi took some time to draw attention to something equally important. In typical Cardi B fashion, she posted a video of herself going OFF– but this time to remind us that the government is still shutdown. In her post, she expresses her deep empathy for those who have yet to be paid during this shutdown and mentions,“I know a lot of y’all don’t care because y’all don’t work for the government or y’all probably don’t even have a job but this shit is really f*cking serious bro.”

Not only does the 26-year-old bring attention to the severity of the situation that’s happening in our country, but she issues a call to action. “I feel like we need to take some action, I don’t know what type of action b*tch, cause this is not what I do but… B*tch I’m scared.” So are we, sis!

Many people took notice of her video and it soon went viral on not only social media, but it made it to the newsrooms! People all over the nation were intrigued by the singer’s deeply empathetic video. So much so, that when the Women’s March in Washington D.C. came around on January 19th, protest signs were filled with the most iconic quotes from Cardi B.

Some even suggested Cardi run for president!

The truth is, there is nothing that can truly distract us from the reality that is our government system right now. And while we can binge watch as many shows as we want and go about our days listening to our favorite songs, there are people seriously suffering- all for a f*cking wall (as Cardi says). With the help of people like Cardi B using their platform for good, we might just see the light at the end of the tunnel soon.
